More Swap Squares

Hello dear readers. Thank you for your comments and thoughts about my post on Pinterest. It’s certainly sparked a flurry of activity on my little blog. We shall have to wait and see what Pinterest themselves come up with to resolve this sticky problem. It seems awfully unfair that they give us this wonderful site but then wash their hands of any blame and responsibility. But enough on the subject.

I’ve received some more squares in the post for LaaLaa’s Blanket Swap. The first one is from Shirazz from Dennington Designs

The second square was from Moonstruck Creations

Thank you ladies. Looks like the squares are coming in thick and fast now. I have one more left to send out and that’s all mine done and dusted.

Oh, before I forget. I also received some squares from the US. These will go towards my SIBOL Friendship blanket.

She has a blog but is a relatively newcomer to blogging, so she’s still finding her feet. As we all did at the beginning of our blog writing. Even now, I sometimes struggle.

Well, the nice weather is calling me to get off my laptop and do something energising. Oh and don’t forget peeps, clocks go forward tonight. Roll on British Summer Time :D

Farewell Pinterest

Hello my lovelies. How are things? We’ve had some absolutely gorgeous spring weather lately. It makes such a change to do things like dry the washing out on the line

and to greet each day with a smile. A bit of sunshine just seems to have such an uplifting effect, don’t you think?

But, I digress, as I really wanted to talk to you about Pinterest. Unless you’ve been living under a rock on Mars, you will be aware that Pinterest is basically an online pinboard, where you can share and pin images from the web to create your own personal virtual moodboards.  You can also repin images shared within Pinterest; and there lies the problem. A repin, of a repin, of a repin, of ….. well, you get the idea. To whom does the image belong and is the original source being credited. Do they want their work plastered over the Web in this fashion?

There have been a few bloggers discussing the problem of Pinterest and copyright infringements. A few are sitting on the fence over the legalities of it but others have decided not to risk it and have closed their accounts. If you run a search you can find a few articles discussing this dilemma. This article is particularly worrying and this one just plain scared me. Thank you Yvonne from The Yvestown Blog for highlighting this on your latest blog post.

I abhor people who steal images of other people’s handiwork and pass them off as their own. I feel awful that I may have repinned “stolen” images unwittingly. So I have decided to delete my Pinterest account. Luckily, I wasn’t sucked in too deeply by it, so I shan’t really miss it.

I shall, however, support the Link With Love campaign which is growing every day. I will also be checking into Creative Commons licensing, to familiarise myself with the different options available.

Till next time. Happy crafting and remember, if you do see a fabulous item to share. Ask first and link back to the rightful owner.

Mothering Sunday

Yesterday it was Mother’s Day here in the UK. I had a wonderful restful day.

Breakfast consisted of tea with a plateful of croissants and pain au chocolate supplied by hubby.

Our eldest was up and out early for work, but he did give me some of these before he left.

I do like a bit of fancy jewellery.

Then our daughter finally woke up around 2pm. No, she didn’t have a mahoosive lie-in. She works at our local branch of Chicago’s at the weekend, and doesn’t get in much before 6am after working her shift. Her pressie ….

Do my kids know me or what? Feet up munching and slurping away whilst watching Mrs Miniver on DVD.

Best of all was that everyone was home for dinner. Spaghetti Bolognese cooked to perfection by hubby.

Perfect!

Hope your Mother’s Day was just as nice.
