Quiet month on the making side. All squares for LaaLaa’s Blanket Swap have been completed and sent out. I’m awaiting the arrival of more squares, then I’ll be able to start my lap blanket.

Yay!! I finally have something finished. I’ve been on a bit of a crochet frenzy lately. Lots of squares being made for swaps and for my Art of Crochet Vintage Throw. Trouble with crochet squares is that they are component parts. You end up making hundreds of these beautiful squares but until you start to join them up they don’t become finished items. Well, due to said crochet frenzy, my knitting has taken a back seat. However, the other day I felt quite guilty ignoring a pair of socks I had started late last October. Yes, dear friends, October. It wouldn’t have been so bad but these were for my daughter. I didn’t even have very much left to do. A couple or so inches on the foot part, then shape for the toes. So, one episode of The Tudors later and halfway through the Battle of Britain film and ta-dah! One pair of socks finished. Pattern: Tiger Socks by Monica Jines Yarn: Zig-Zag by King Cole (50% superwash wool, 50% nylon) Colourway: Cornucopia Needles: 2.75mm Method: Cuff down, 2 at a time on 2 circular needles Hello dear readers. I do hope you’re enjoying this gorgeous weather we’re having here in the UK. Fantastic blue skies everywhere, temperatures nudging 20C. Savour it while it lasts folks, this is England after all Today I thought I would share a wonderful podcast episode with you all. It’s an interview that Sister Diane of the Craftypod website had with a small business consultant. I’m not too sure how many of you sell your crafts. I don’t as I craft purely for pleasure now. I did, however, did used to sell my handmade soy candles and melts both online and at craft fairs/pamper evenings, etc. The main problem that most handcrafters have is in pricing their products. Now, hands up. How many out there are guilty of underpricing their handmade items. Come on, be honest. Yep, I was too. It’s an all too common occurrence within the handmade sector. Now, as I said, I don’t sell anymore but I do know of plenty who do and I’m sure you do too. So, if you or anybody you know who sells their products too cheap, please, direct them to Craftypod‘s website where they can hear the episode. Maybe you don’t normally listen to podcasts, that’s fine. However, I would suggest you download just this episode. It’s about 30 mins in length but is absolutely brilliant. I feel that once you’ve listened to it, it will change the way you think about your products, your business and your customers. |
