Hello my lovelies. Welcome again to new and returning readers and lurkers. Yes, there’s a few lurking about in the corners and shadows. Don’t be shy, there’s always plenty of tea and cake for everybody.

I thought I’d give you a bit of an update on the Vintage Throw featured in The Art of Crochet partwork. I’ve subscribed to the series since it began and I’m about 2/3rds of the way through. It’s what prompted me to try to learn to crochet for the umpteenth time and it finally clicked with me.

The thing is I’ve not really been keeping up with the squares. I’ve been side tracked with other projects, as you do ;)   I’ve made about 20 squares but to be honest, my tension has changed so much since then that they just look, well, amateurish.

I’m also not too keen on some of the designs. They’re mostly repeated squares and there’s a few with embroidered cross stitch on them.

There’s something awkward about cross stitching over treble crochet. The crosses just don’t seem to sit right. So, I’m going to go through my squares and probably redo them all. I’ll also be substituting some of the square designs with those from Jan Eaton’s 200 Crochet Blocks. I know of a few people who have done that, with some really nice results.

I just need to have a good look and decide which ones to make. So many to choose from. Decisions, decisions.

Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening, depending where in the world you are :D   Just insert the time of day for you.

Tuesday is Ta Dah day. Yes, I think I shall be naming my blogging days of the week. I know many out there do. So I thought I’d show you the shrug I finished last week.  It was the Bonita Shrug that I mentioned in Monday’s post. The pattern is  Bonita, which was in The Little Book of Summer Crochet that came free with Let’s Knit May 2011.

It’s a very simple pattern worked in a cotton DK yarn with a 5.5mm hook. I had enough Cotton Shine yarn by Ice Yarns, left in my stash to make it.

I think it took nearly 3 balls so it’s not yarn intensive. They say you can complete it in a couple of nights. It took me a bit longer than that, but then I’m not a very fast crocheter. I like to take my time, it’s supposedly a relaxing hobby, after all :)

Pattern: Design A – “Bonita” Crochet Lace Shrug by Sirdar Spinning Ltd.

Hello again dear readers. Yesterday I mentioned I had made some squares for my October SIBOL Swap partner. I didn’t put up the pictures as I wanted to keep them for a separate post. So here they are

The squares are from Jan Eaton’s 200 Crochet Blocks

This is a free pattern called Butterfly by Lee Ann Hamm. It’s made using crochet thread. I used some Circulo Clea #10.

I do hope my partner likes them.
