My name is Ruby. I’m a WAHM who loves to craft. I had my own hobby/part time venture making soy candles and melts. I’ve always been good with my hands and enjoy making things. I’ve been knitting on and off for nearly 40 years (yikes!!!). I enjoy doing cross stitch, tapestry and have recently learned to crochet, which I absolutely love.

Hello everybody :) It looks like our Internet problems seem to have sorted themselves out. Isn’t it amazing just how much we rely on our Internet nowadays. Everything from buying and selling to online banking, streaming music and videos to staying in touch with family and friends around the globe. I’ve been online since 1997. Back then we had a pay as you go, dial-up connection with Demon. I couldn’t tell you how fast the connection was but 24 kb has a familiar ring to it. We now have a 1GB super fast, fibre optic connection that increasing sometime this year by another 20MB. Thank you Mr Branson but it might be an idea to stabilise your connection and Super Hub before increasing it.

Well, now that I’m back online I can show you my latest postal surprise that turned up over the weekend.

These arrived from swfirefly, my SIBOL Swap partner for this month. She doesn’t blog but I can tell you that she is from Tampa in Florida. Swfirefly, the squares are lovely. Thank you so much.

I’ve got about 18 squares now, halfway to a decent sized blanket. I do so enjoy swaps.

Well hello there my dearies. I do hope that you’re all fine.

We’re having some technical problems here at home. Namely, lack of Internet access. Apparently we have too much noise on the line or some such lame excuse. Whatever the real problem is, we won’t be back online till Wednesday. Thank you very much VirginMedia. Your service stinks. It’s amazing but we never had any problems with their service for around 11 years. Then we upgraded our broadband speed to 1GB and we have been plagued by problems ever since. For anybody out there thinking of switching to their super fast broadband, don’t. Everybody who has switched seems to be having similar problems judging by the comments on their forum. They are crediting our account £6 as compensation, but quite frankly, we’d rather have the service they’re meant to be providing.

OK, rant over. By the miracle that is smartphone, I am still able to update my blog via my WordPress app on my iPhone.

So just a short post to say that yesterday I received my squares from The Snail Garden.

These are my first set of squares received for Laalaa’s Blanket Swap. Looking forward to receiving more in the coming weeks.

Thank you so much Snail Garden :)

Feb 122012

Good afternoon dear readers. I hope you’re all enjoying your Sunday. I’m having a typical lazy Sunday afternoon. I’ve been catching up on all things bloggy. Spent most of the morning reading blogs, leaving a few comments here and there. I’ve also been busy taking snapshots of my crochet squares and uploading them all up on Flickr.

I made quite a few. Well, like the rest of the country, we’ve had snow and freezing sub zero temperatures. Last Sunday we awoke to this

Snow

SNOW!!!! Lot’s of it. In fact, it’s only started to melt properly today. Just goes to show how much and how cold it’s been. Perfect weather for staying indoors making crafty goodies and drinking copious amount of tea.

I’ve made 13 squares, since I last blogged, for my Vintage Style Throw from The Art of Crochet partwork. Here are my third set of six

Vintage Style Throw Squares 13 - 18

1. Bobble Diamond, 2. Two Colour Diagonal Square, 3. Coral Seas, 4. Half Treble Square with Star Motif, 5. Two-Colour Diagonal Trebles Square, 6. Trebles Granny Square

And here are the fourth set

Vintage Style Throw Squares 19 - 24

1. Granny Square, 2. Coloured Bobbles Square, 3. Chequerboard Pattern Square, 4. Granny Square, 5. Two-Colour Diagonal Trebles Square, 6. Coloured Eyelets Square

I’m slowly getting there. OK, very slowly, seeing as I’ve just received issues 94 to 97 :D and there’s 23 issues left to finish the series. Hmmm, I’m almost a quarter of the way through. That doesn’t sound too bad now, does it.

Right-i-o then, I’m off to sort out what squares to make for LaaLaa’s Blanket Swap. Need to check my stash and see if I’ve got the appropriate colours for each member. Till then, keep warm. Hopefully this week will see a thaw and all this white stuff will disappear quickly.

TTFN :)
